We are very fortunate indeed to have a very active and supportive PFA at Mells C of E First School. All parents, grandparents and carers are automatically members of the PFA although we extend our membership to all staff and any friends of Mells School. We actively encourage as many parents/carers/staff/friends of Mells to join our PFA Committee.
Our Summer and Christmas Fairs are extremely successful and along with other events enable us to raise thousands of pounds. Over the past three years, our fundraising has enabled the Headteacher to: furnish and equip our Reception Class, purchase a large number of iPads, decorate our school interior, fund the building of a new music area/non-fiction library, subsidise professional performances, purchase equipment including new tables and chairs for lunchtime.
We aim to support the links and the relationship between home and school and we do this through a variety of social events, from quiz nights, to organising cooking demonstrations, to craft nights as well as organising cafes during school events – Christmas performances, Sports Days and Open Days.
Not all of our events are run as fundraisers, for example, the leavers party; we try to provide special fun activities for the children as a thank you to the families for their continued support to the PFA.
How can you help?
Shopping online through The Giving Machine. All you need to do, once registered, is to find your online retailer through
www.thegivingmachine.co.uk and the school will receive a donation each time you shop.
Donating unwanted items
At different points throughout the year we collect: items for Christmas and Summer Fairs, any items of jewellery - old & new, UK & foreign currency, unwanted clothing and old mobile phones.
Attend a PFA meeting (or perhaps even join the PFA Committee)
These meetings are termly.
Bake cakes for Cake Sales
The PFA hosts Macmillian Coffee mornings each September in school. Parents from each class also organise termly cake sales.
Support different PFA events
We try to put regular updates on the school website and all dates for future events can be found on the website calendar as well as newsletters. Please check these regularly and join us whenever you can!
